The current method of removing contamination from wood, concrete and building materials is to wash down with chemicals, soaps or disinfectants using a power washer or scrubbing by hand to remove the contamination. This method can add to moisture problems, is labor intensive and the chemicals required can be costly.
Effective and environment friendly system
Restoration and cleaning of buildings requires technology that can easily and quickly remove different types of contamination, without causing any damage to the substrate. This is especially true when historical monuments need to be cleaned or restored. ARMEX blasting is the most effective, and most environmentally friendly system for removing contamination from surfaces like bricks, glass, stone, tiles, marble, stainless steel or wood.
Using ARMEX®
Using ARMEX® blasting, does not only provide ideally clean surfaces from contaminants like (Paint, grit, soot, glues), but is also able to restore the facade back to its original state.
There is also no threat to passing vehicles, bystanders, or workers as the ARMEX® is water soluble. Clean up is achieved by simply washing away or spraying with citric acid.
Areas of applications:
- Disinfects and retards mould and acts as a deodorizer
- Very effective for removing oil, grease, paint and other contaminates from any surface
- Painted brickwork can be stripped back to the original bare brick quickly and effortlessly
- Sandstone can be returned to its original color without damaging the stone or removing the mortar
- Removes rust staining, paint, exhaust fume pollution and more from most surfaces.
Benefits include:
- Extremely quick and efficient, therefore saving money
- Is water soluble and has NO impact on the environment
- Mobile and can reach hard to access places
- No chemicals are required
- Can be done without the use of water or if water is required, only a minimal amount is used
- Does not cause damage to original surface
Asbestos removal
Asbestos is a generic term including several silicate materials and has been largely employed in the past due to its useful heat and stability properties.
But its toxic and dangerous effects have already been demonstrated and today its use is banned. Moreover, its removal from buildings and facilities is demanded and must be done under very strict safety conditions (sealed area, individual protection for operators).
The removal of asbestos-based materials from buildings and other structures is carried out in two steps:
- The superficial layer is easily eliminated via manual operations.
- By manual stripping and scrapping, all asbestos fibers are completely removed. This last phase is very time consuming, especially on complex or difficult-to-access surfaces, and where ARMEX® blasting can play a key role in simplifying the process and reducing the danger
- Following removal the asbestos can be washed with water and the ARMEX® washed away leaving a much smaller volume for hazardous disposal
